Repeat History

Repeat History
4/13/2017 #50
Ecclesiastes 1:9, "The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun."  With all of the supposed human advancement, humanity will still repeat itself. A cycle that will only break when Jesus comes again. The greatest fear for the future is that we forget how God has led us in the past. Explore the prophecies in Biblical history.

Front Row

Front Row
4/3/2017 #49
Matthew 7:14, "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." People spend
their hard earned money to attend sports games, concerts, and shows paying the highest price to get a front row seat.  All of these
ventures are empty and provide no eternal value.  Yet when the words of eternal life are spoken from a pulpit, even those attending
church seem disinterested, arrive late, and sit in the back. Narrow is the way, and few there be that want it.

Proverbs 12:16, "A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted." (NLT)  So often we react in anger to another person's actions.  We blame them for our outburst, but the problem really lies within us, what we say to ourselves and our lack of control.  This is most readily seen in our closest relationships, within the marriage and within our family.  No one make us do it; it's our choice.

Genesis 1:29, "And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree,
in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat."  God's original plan never included death. Sin brought death
and Christ is redeeming us from sin and death to get us back to the garden of Eden.  When Christ returns there will be no more death
(Rev 21:4).  In the beginning and at the ending nothing will die, so why should we consume death while in the middle?

One Bite

One Bite i Problems
2/18/2017 #46
Romans 5:19, "For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of One shall many be made righteous."  It only took a little bite of a forbidden fruit to cause humanity to be selfish, self-centered, and self-seeking.  We now focus on ourselves instead of others, but Christ came to save us from our self-destruction.  So trust in Jesus and he will take the "i" from sin and put it in "Him".

2nd Corinthians 5:17-22, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are
become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them...
For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him."
There is only One answer to our sin problem and His name is Jesus.

1. Psalm 110:1 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
2. 1st John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

4. Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
5. 1st Corinthians 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
6. Proverbs 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
7. Psalm 143:6  I stretch forth my hands unto Thee: my soul thirsteth after Thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.

2nd Corinthians 3:2, "Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men".  What we do and say in our lives is like an
open book to the world, known and read by everyone we come in contact with.  Impressions are made, even if it's in a single moment,
that can be an eternal imprint for good or bad.  So, let your mark on the world testify to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Bib or Apron

Bib or Apron
1/2/2017 #42
Matthew 20:27-28, "And whoever would be greatest among you must be a servant, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” In temporal things as well as eternal things, we either wear the bib and wait for others to feed us, or by God's grace we put on the apron and feed others.  Unfortunately, many of us are still spiritual babies (1st Corinthians 3:1-3), infants in the Lord, demanding service and drinking the gospel milk instead of serving others and chewing on the meat of the gospel.

Wise Men

12/5/2016 #41
Matthew 2:11, "And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and
worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh."
While the religious leaders squabbled over keeping traditions, wise men searched the scriptures and knew when Christ was to
come and went out to meet Him.  As it was then, so it will be again.

Hang in There

Hang in There
11/11/2016 #40
Isaiah 41:10, "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness."  Our frustrations come when we take our eyes off of Jesus and focus on our situation, circumstances, environment or on other people and what they are saying or doing.  Focus on Jesus and take hold of His promises.

Faith and Failure

Picture
11/01/2016 #39
1st Corinthians 1:18, "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." We are here, at the crossroads, the decision point in our lives to go one of two ways.  We will either choose to lay all at the foot of the cross of Christ and by faith take up our own crosses daily following Him on the upward way, or we will be lured away into the depths of sin.  Whichever path we take, it's our individual choice.

Hungry for God

Picture
10/30/2016 #38
Psalm 42:2, "My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?"  When we don't have time for Jesus, it's because we are spending time gratifying ourselves.  God is infinite and His character is love.  There is no greater study, no greater friend, no greater love, no greater pursuit than a relationship with God because He created us that way!  Therefore, if we are not hungry for God it is simply because we are full of our selfishness.  That's why Jesus came, to save us from our selfishness which leads to destruction.

Can

Jesus Can
10/26/2016 #37
Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."  Jesus made the impossible, possible.  All power and authority both in Heaven and on Earth is given to Jesus the Christ because of what He did at the cross.  If you choose to side with Christ, there is no "can't".  His plan will be fulfilled in your life because "He that hath begun a good work in you shall perform it until the day of Jesus Christ".

Go Far

Go Far
10/21/2016 #36
Galatians 6:4, "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."  In this fast paced world, where time exists, we are taught to leave others behind in order to get ahead; even stepping on others to gain the advantage.  Yet soon the faithful in Christ will inherit eternity and those who cared more for others than for themselves will reap the eternal reward of an everlasting friendship, together in Jesus.

X-Ray

X-Ray Commandments
10/19/2016 #35
Romans 5:20, "Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound".  The commandments were given not to cleanse us, but to show us our sin.  They reveal the hidden weaknesses of our character and the selfish nature that we all have.  Without the law, we would not see our need for Jesus and the sacrifice of Jesus would be made of no effect.

Change the World

Change the World
9/30/2016 #34
Romans 12:2, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."  The world is a reflection of the character of the people living in it. People want to change the world, but people can't positively change the character of other people.  Only God can change the hearts of people through His love.  The most effective way to change the world is to facilitate God changing hearts on an individual level by sharing His love.

Weight Lifter

9/27/2016 #33
James 1:26, "If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion
is vain." & Proverbs 21:23, "Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles." It's so easy to let the tongue
run rampant with our emotions, but that course brings troubles and makes our religion meaningless.  Great Christian strength is in
the meekness of holding your tongue no matter what others say and allowing Christ to speak through us instead.

In Trouble

Pray in Trouble
9/22/2016 #32
1st Thessalonians 5:17, "Pray without ceasing". People whose religion is like a fire escape, will find that their religion does nothing for them.  It's not about statistical religion (How often you go to church, listen to a sermon, feed the poor, etc), it's about relationship (Communicating with our God and Creator by reading His word and praying to Him).  Once The First is first, the rest will come.

Earth's Finale

Earth's Finale Smoking or non-smoking
9/22/2016 #32
Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord".  We have all earned our wages by committing sin: death by hellfire is the result unless by faith we accept the gift of God.  It is our choice where we will stand during the judgment and while we dont know the day or hour of the coming of Jesus Christ, we do know that the finale is soon to begin. Choose now.

Simple Gospel

Simple Gospel of Jesus Christ
9/21/2016 #31
1st Corinthians 2:2, "For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified."  The Gospel really
is simple, it's all about who Jesus is, what He has done, and what He is about to do.  We are just caught up in the mix of how awesome
God is and ours will be the eternal benefit of God's grace.  As the Casting Crowns song lyrics go, "Not because of who I am,
but because of what You've done; Not because of what I've done, but because of who You are".

Proverbs 13:20, "He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed." Only once we have
stepped over the threshold of eternity will we realize just how much our influence meant to others, for good and for bad.  Do we
measure ourselves by the temperature of others and that's all we are, or do we set the temperature around us by our example?
Those in our influence will either be wise or be destroyed.

1st John 1:7, "But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ
His Son cleanseth us from all sin." Once paired with Christ (Baptism) you can still get out of range (Broken Relationship) and be
lost forever.  For Christianity to "work", one has to remain connected to Christ and stay close to Him (Prayer & Bible study).
You can only lose connection if you choose to walk away from The Source.

A Fan

A Fan or a Christian
9/16/2016 #28
1st John 2:6, "He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as He walked."  When you are at the game, unless
you're playing, you are just a fan.  Even if you know all the stats, players, rules and jargon and have your own jersey on, you're still a fan.
Likewise you can know all the Bible verses, Biblical characters, commandments and religious jargon and not be in the field next to Christ.  For Christianity, only the players get to live forever; the fans die with the enemy.

Organ Donor

Be an Organ Donor
9/15/2016 #27
Jude 1:23, "Save others by snatching them from the fire. To others, show mercy with fear, hating even the garment spotted by the flesh."  To be an organ donor will help someone when you die, but far greater help will be given if you donate your heart to Jesus while alive.  That way not only yourself will be saved, but you will be able to help others be saved too; and this is not a temporary saving, it's an eternal salvation.

Romans 6:14-15, "For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid."  The old testament law requiring Sabbath observance was written in stone with the finger of God and spoken from mount Sinai.  Exodus 20:8-11, "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it."

Broken Pencil Life without God has no point
9/13/2016 #25
Ecclesiastes 2:26, " All that man does to accomplish great things or to gain riches is useless.  I concluded that life without God has no more purpose than chasing the wind. (Clear Word)"  Solomon achieved more than any other king and being the best and at the top, Solomon concluded that the pursuit of it, is vanity.  No matter what you can accomplish or achieve, if you don't have God, all is vanity.  With God we have eternal life, without God we will cease to exist and be as though we never existed before at all.

Proverbs 17:22, "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones."  Circumstances will inevitably vary
like the tide going up and down.  But God knows what you are going through and asks you to keep your eyes on Him in every situation.
By doing so, you can have an attitude of joy in the atmosphere of Heaven, while still on the Earth.

Hebrews 10:25, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."  What's missing from CH--CH?  U R.  The church of God is not a building, it's people.

Deuteronomy 31:6, "Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, He it is that doth go with thee; He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee."  There are two ways to read this message.  Just like there are two ways to see God in your life: He is either no where or He is with you right now.  The original Greek new testament was written without spaces between words.  Therefore and just like the above statement some Greek texts become slightly ambiguous when read because they can go either way.  That's why we cannot form a religion on a single text, but must base our theology on scripture as a whole comparing verse with verse.

Hurting People

We love hurting people, God's message is often misunderstood
9/8/2016 #21
John 15:18-19, "If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you."  There are two ways to read the message of the day.  You'll see it either as the church loves to damage people with their religion,
or you'll see it that the church gives love to people who are already hurting.

God's New World Order
9/8/2016 #20
Revelation 21:1, "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea."  God had to do a New World Order during the time of Noah because wickedness was rampant.  It's rampant again and God will do another NWO when Jesus comes back. God owns the world.  He created it and He is the only one with the right to remake it.

Acts 5:17-32, "Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation, And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison. But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said, Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life. And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught...But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned and told, Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within...Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people...And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them, Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? ...Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him."  When you are in the will of God, nothing fashioned against you can stand.  God will protect His people and He will see to it that His purpose is accomplished, if it means rescuing His people out of prison, or letting them be beheaded like John the Baptist, God is in charge.  We are called to be witnesses of Christ.

1st Peter 5:6-7, "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you."  You've heard it said that God wont give you more than you can handle...that's a lie.  God allows you to struggle with your own baggage until you come to the point that you realize you CAN'T do it yourself and then He steps in and says,
"Are you ready to trust Me? I can handle it."

9/5/2016 #17
1st John 5:12, "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life."  When we accept the sacrifice of Christ on our behalf, He gives us His life for our death, His righteousness for our sin.  Christ already paid our wages of sin which is death and when we choose Him, He will prevent our destruction.

Mark 12:30, "And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment."  So many of us have a culture of visiting God in church on the weekends and going our own way the rest of the week.  God wants our whole lives, every part, fully committed, totally surrendered to Him and God's plans are always the best.

1st Corinthians 3:7, "So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase."  No matter what you do, it is God that gives the increase.  God makes it grow and His blessings are always prosperous - blessing more than just yourself.  "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again" Luke 6:38.  This idea came from my experience growing tomatoes in my garden this year and the costs at each stage I was looking at.

Esther 2:10, "Esther had not shewed her people nor her kindred: for Mordecai had charged her that she should not shew it." Most of God's people in the last days are not the typical "church" people we think of and God will use His people to accomplish the final work before Jesus comes back.  Don't be discouraged by what you see, God looks at the heart and some of "those people" will be His best agents.

Exodus 32:4 & 24, "And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt"... "And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf."  Aaron made the calf himself, then when called into question by Moses, he lied and claimed it evolved from the fire.  Evolution started as a cover up and still remains that way.

Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other."  Just because something looks profitable, doesn't mean it is.  Present all your choices before the Lord and submit to His guidance instead of justifying your selfishness.

Luke 14:27, "And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after Me, cannot be My disciple."  Carrying the cross meant you were going to die.  The soldiers nailed or tied you to it and then lifted up the cross placing it in a hole in the ground.  At that point the cross that you were bearing now literally bears you.  Likewise you will experience the same thing with the spiritual cross of Christ.

Hebrews 10:25, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching". To be in the world is not cooler than to be in the church, the very best of the best comes from having a saving relationship with Jesus Christ and helping others get to know Him too.  It will bring eternal happiness.

Hebrews 6:10, "For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward His name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister."  Every Christian should be daily serving others for God's glory until He says their time is up.

Galatians 2:20, "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."  A Zombie is defined as the living dead.  Christians need to be dead to the world and alive to Christ.  When we die to our selfish natures, crucify the flesh and the lusts thereof, then live our life as the early Christians did by the power of the Holy Spirit we will radically change the world.  It only took a few disciples to turn the world upside down.

1st Corinthians 2:14, “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him:
neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” Extremely religious people killed Jesus, the Author of the Law,
because they didn't have spiritual discernment of that law.  Always ask for the Holy Spirit to give you understanding of the Bible.

Matthew 12:30, "He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad." Many people tend to think that they can sit on the fence until the last moment and jump onto the Lord's side, to live their lives as they choose until the very end.  The reality is that sitting on the fence means choosing yourself over God which is the same as choosing satan.  In the beginning there was only God's side.  satan is the one who brought division, he built the fence.  Therefore, he owns it.
